Day 59, Photographed and uploaded to my web site! Its beginning to get crowded there.
Contorted Relic
One of many lamps I have created from the branches of my grandparents contorted filbert tree. The tree died after I left home for college. The forms of these deformed branches plays well with the fabric wrapped cords and cast a nice shadow. The shade is paper and is hand folded around an LED light.
The base of this particular lamp is a simple plank of white oak. It is ornamented with abstract drawings of plants benefiting from the light. The cord is fabric wrapped and pierces the drawing in a gesture to illustrate a cycle of energy.

Weapons of the Immortal
This is a series for a show I am co-curating with Miranda Sharp called, Legends of the Midwest. This is a series of modified and ornamented woodworking tools. This process is much like the idea of personalizing a weapon in ancient times before a battle. Assuring oneself that your weapon will have a greater power of protection or luck if it is treated with reverence and ritual.
